Frequently Asked Questions

Entering into therapy can come with a lot of unknowns, here are answers to some common questions.  If your question is not addressed here, please feel free to contact me more information.

How can therapy help me?

Therapy can help you bring balance to your life, improve your ability to have happy and meaningful relationships with friends, family, and co-workers, heal past traumas, increase self-esteem, and cope with symptom like anger, sadness, anxiety, panic, guilt, and grief.

What can I expect during appointments?

During your initial assessment session I will spend some time getting to know you, your background, and what you are hoping to gain from therapy. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions of me to get to know my therapeutic style.  Following the assessment session, we will begin regular sessions to work towards your treatment goals.  Sessions are 50 minutes long.

How involved should I be in my child's treatment?

For children and teens, the assessment appointment is conducted with only the caregiver(s).  From there the child or teen and I will meet individually and/or with caregiver(s). Therapy with children and teens is flexile and based on their individual needs and the needs of the family. Caregivers will have regular opportunities to meet with me to provide updates, ask questions, and gain new parenting tools. I value and respect a child and teen’s confidentiality and privacy while maintaining a collaborative relationship with caregivers.

When are appointments available?
